What runs are available?
There truly is something for everyone at the Bournemouth Marathon Festival! 

Sunday 6th October

Marathon
 – Start time 10am. Over 18’s only
The Bournemouth Marathon starts in Kings Park before making its way down onto the seafront. You continue to take in the beautiful coastal views as you hit mile 9 on the coastal marathon route. Standing mid way between Poole Harbour and Hurst Spit, Hengistbury Head forms the main division between Poole and Christchurch bays. You then turn west and at mile 14 you can see the famous Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum which is situated on Bournemouth’s stunning cliff-top, over looking the sea. You then continue to run along the seafront, taking in the breathtaking Boscombe Pier, at mile 12 & 16. As you hit the iconic Bournemouth Pier for the second time, you know you’re on the home stretch. The Pier was first constructed in 1856. The Pier has undergone numerous transformations over the years, with the addition of the Bournemouth Pier Theatre in 1959. As you continue your run west towards Lower Gardens at mile 18, you then head towards Poole’s Natural Harbour which is the largest in Europe before taking in the last few miles along the stunning sea front and finishing in Lower Gardens.


Half Marathon
 – Start time 8am. Over 17’s only
The Bournemouth half marathon route follows the full marathon route, starting in Kings Park before making it’s way down onto the seafront. You continue to take in the beautiful coastal views as you hit mile 6 – standing mid way between Poole Harbour and Hurst Spit, Hengistbury Head forms the main division between Poole and Christchurch bays. You then turn west and at around mile 8, you run along the breathtaking Boscombe Pier. The Pier was first constructed in 1856. The Pier has undergone numerous transformations over the years, with the addition of the Bournemouth Pier Theatre in 1959. You then run past Lower Gardens at mile 10 before the final home stretch along the stunning coastal seafront and a grandstand finish.


Saturday 5th October

Supersonic 10k – Start time 4pm. Over 15’s only
The Supersonic 10K takes place on Saturday afternoon and is a fantastic flat and fast course, great for setting a quick time. Starting and finishing near the Bournemouth Marathon Festival Hub in the Lower Gardens, this beautiful coastal route heads along Undercliff Drive past some of the lovely Beach Huts, before turning back towards Bournemouth. The Supersonic 10K route allows runners the rare opportunity to run along the iconic Bournemouth Pier, before finishing in the gorgeous Lower Gardens for a well-deserved ice cream!

Supernova 5k - Start time 7pm. Open to all ages
The Supernova 5K event is the perfect way to get involved in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival with your family and friends, whilst taking in the atmosphere and fun. Starting on Bournemouth Prom and finishing near the Bournemouth Marathon Festival Hub in the Lower Gardens, this beautiful coastal route allows runners the rare opportunity to run along the iconic Bournemouth Pier, which is lit up at dusk to create a beautiful spectacle for participants and spectators alike!

Junior 5k - Start time 2.30pm. Open to ages 11-18
Starting on Bournemouth Prom and finishing near the Bournemouth Marathon Festival Hub in the Lower Gardens, this beautiful coastal route takes in the Bournemouth Pier. It’s a great race for kids of all ages.

Junior 2k - Start time 1.30pm. Open to ages 9-12
Runners aged 9-12 will run the Junior 2K. The scenic route will start on Bournemouth Prom and finish near the Bournemouth Marathon Festival Hub in the Lower Gardens.

Junior 1.5k - Start time 12.45pm. Open to ages 6-8
The Junior 1.5K is for runners aged 6-8. This beautiful, coastal route will start on Bournemouth Prom and finish near the Bournemouth Marathon Festival Hub in the Lower Gardens. It’s a great race for kids of all ages.

Kids Kilometre - Start time 12noon. Open to ages 3-6
Runners aged 3-6 will run in the Kids’ Kilometre which takes in the iconic Bournemouth Pier. Children taking part in this event must be accompanied by an adult (adults do not need to have an entry).

Is there an entry fee?
There is no entry fee as SiMBA are an affiliated charity but we have set minimum sponsorship for each event as detailed below :

  • Marathon - £400
  • Half Marathon - £250.00
  • Supersonic 10k - £120.00
  • Supernova 5k - £70.00
  • Kids Kilometre - £25
  • 1.5k Junior Race - £25
  • 2k Junior Race - £25
  • 5k Junior Race - £25


Our T&Cs
Your place is not confirmed until SiMBA verify your entry, we cannot do this until we receive an email from you confirming that you have applied to enter this event and that you are happy to try to raise our minimum sponsorship.

It's really important for us to ensure that you are able to meet our minimum sponsorship targets for this event before you register. If you have any concerns about raising the requested amount please speak to us before you sign up.
