Over the past 4 months we have been working closely with, and drawing on the vast array of knowledge and resources available from, the UK and Scottish Governments, World Athletics, local authorities teams and medical teams to research, plan and work to adapt our delivery models. This was to ensure that, if government restrictions allowed, we were able to deliver a safe event for our Participants, Event Team, Partners and Suppliers. It is with deep regret however, we are sharing with you today that we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone the event until 2021. We think that it’s important that you understand how and why we have come to make this decision.
As you know, it is outside of our control to say when events will be permitted to go ahead, and sadly there is insufficient information currently available to allow us to estimate when this will be. The nature of the event demands a considerable amount of preparation, not only from our team and our delivery partners, but from the participants. Their preparation for an event will involve training, sometimes meaning they are dedicating many hours away from their friends and family, which for many is understandably unpalatable or impossible with the demands of home working, childcare and schooling at this time. For others it requires the booking of accommodation or travel and we feel that it is unfair to ask for your and their continuing preparation if we cannot make a firm assurance that we will definitely be able to go ahead with the event on the planned date.
We, as a team, are devastated to be sharing this announcement with you. We know you will be equally disappointed and we are acutely aware of the impact that the loss of events is having on our affiliate charities. We will continue to do everything we can to support them.
Current participants have a range of options available to them within their My Details account when they log in. If you are a current entrant, please log in to find out more and select your preferred option. These options will be available until the 25th October 2020. Please note that if you take no action by this date, we will automatically defer your entry to the 2021 event for you.
We’d like to thank you for your continued support of the event, and look forward to being back delivering world-class events again for you, and our affiliate charities, in 2021
What is the Womens 10k?
We want YOU to come along and take part in the Women’s 10K Edinburgh.
Whatever your reason, the Women’s 10K is the perfect opportunity for you to lace up those trainers and make a difference, either to your own life or someone else’s.
Maybe you’ve not done any exercise in a while and need a goal to motivate you, maybe you want to do something positive together with your friends and family, or maybe you want to fundraise funds for SiMBA.
When going gets tough, the tough gets going! If training is getting difficult and you’re wondering what you’ve got yourself into, the knowledge that you’re raising money for a cause you really believe in will give you a purpose and keep you right on track!
What’s the route?
Starting on the historic Royal Mile, this incredible city centre route takes you past the Scottish National Gallery and into Princes Street Gardens, with the iconic Edinburgh Castle as your backdrop. It then goes past the Scott Monument and swoops past the Scottish Parliament building, before carrying onto Holyrood Park. Here you take in the spectacular Arthurs Seat, as well as Holyrood Palace and Dynamic Earth, before heading on to the Grassmarket. As you reach the hustle and bustle of the Grassmarket you’re past the halfway point, where the cheering crowds will help you on your way to a grandstand finish at BT Murrayfield Stadium.
