Harry and Megan’s daughter Layla was born on the 19th January 2021 at 34 weeks gestation in The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate. Harry and Megan found out that they were pregnant with Layla at just 5 weeks gestation. There were no pregnancy complications until at just over 33 weeks Megan didn’t feel very well. She hadn’t felt any movement for a day and when she went to get checked with her dad Danny, she was given the devastating news that there was no heartbeat. Megan immediately called her partner Harry who rushed to the hospital to be with her. Megan opted to bring on her labour and Layla was born on Tuesday 19th January 2021. She was 4llb 10oz and had her mums rosey cheeks and her Dads button nose, she was just perfect.
The midwife explained the contents of the SiMBA Memory box going over everything in detail from the little blankets to the whisp of hair box “they were beautiful”. The midwives took the whisp of hair, the hand and footprints and together Harry and Megan spent 2 nights in hospital then a night at home with Layla. Harry said “I have ADHD and ASD and I never thought I would ever cope with this situation. I managed to help deliver Layla, stay with My Megan for 4 days and it was the most devastating and joyful time of my life.”
Harry and Megan swapped the bears in their Memory boxes with the ones that Layla had held and at her funeral Harry’s mum read the My Little Star book to her and before she was born Harry, a musician and song writer promised, Layla that she would travel the world one day.
Harry and Megan still plan to save up for a campervan and travel the world with Layla’s little bear but they want to keep their promise to Layla now and have her song travel and reach as many countries as possible “we know we can’t travel just now in the pandemic but it would mean so much for us to know that Layla has travelled through her song; already she’s reached Greater New York, Waco Texas in the United States; Oslo, Norway; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Gisborne, New Zealand. We go everywhere with the little teddies, they have given us so much comfort. I promised that I’ll travel the world with Layla and if this song can help other people and if it can get around the world then I’ll have kept my promise to her.”
