We would like to thank Rebecca and Nathan Fear who created a Someone Special page in memory of their daughter Gwen Rose Fear to raise £120 to allow her to donate 3 Memory Boxes to other families. Gwen’s page has now raised an incredible £1063 (Rebecca Fear is fundraising for SIMBA (justgiving.com). Here is their story :
“On the 28th March 2021 our baby daughter Gwen was born sleeping. Days earlier we had arrived at our 20 week scan, excited to find out whether our children would be getting a new baby brother or sister. Instead, we were told our baby’s heart had stopped beating. We still have no answers why and probably never will. Devastated does not even begin to cover our feelings.
In our darkest of times, the care we received from the midwives on the Labour Ward in Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales was incredible. Because of the work of the charity SIMBA, they were able to give us the most precious memory box to remember
Gwen. It has been such a comfort to have at least something of hers to keep forever. The thought of having to have left the hospital completely empty handed is just truly awful. We have been lucky enough to bring home invaluable keepsakes such as hand and footprints, clay prints and matching teddies for Gwen and our other two children. I had miscarriages before Gwen, when I didn’t receive anything at all so we know just how precious these boxes are and can’t thank SIMBA enough for their wonderful work.
I knew that I wanted to do more to more to support the charity so Mam and I started crafting, we donated 150 little butterflies to be added to the Memory Boxes and we’re now taking part in the SiMBA Summer Challenge with a very good friend kindly knitting too. So far we have made 30 pairs of little bear to send in! “
